For the second year running, Tissot scooped the honours at the International Chronometry Competition. This competition requires the watches to pass the tests for chronometer certification on three separate occasions, with a series of severe tests of resistance to shocks and magnetism thrown in for good measure between the second and third tests.
- Competition model by Tissot
- Mecanograph by Louis Moinet
Only the watches that pass all three chronometer tests are eligible for a place on the podium. In this year’s edition, 12 out of the 20 timepieces entered in the “Classic” category made it through, with Tissot taking the top two spots with 878 points* and 850 points respectively for its Calibre A86.502 and A86.501 , followed by Louis Moinet in third place with 728 points for its Calibre LM31.
- LL104/1 by Les Ateliers L. Leroy
The winner in the “Tourbillon” category was Les Ateliers Leroy S.A.S. from Besançon with 794 points, after the majority of the seven competing brands did not make it through the severe tests for resistance to shocks and magnetism.
For its next edition, in 2015, the competition is considering the introduction of two new categories: extra-flat watches and chronographs.
