n 2002, Louis Vuitton unveiled a watch like no other: the Tambour. Bold and innovative, it was recognisable at a glance with its unprecedented shape, its round case sculpted from a block of metal, and its signature applied horns. Over the years this timeless and iconic stylistic signature has been applied to all kinds of watches, from the more classic to the most complex.
Twenty years later, La Fabrique du Temps, Louis Vuitton’s watch manufacture, has created an exclusive anniversary model to celebrate the watch that made all of this possible: the Tambour Twenty. The limited edition of 200 pieces pays tribute to the original Tambour with a reprise of the emblematic codes that made it an icon of watch design.
- The Louis Vuitton Tambour Twenty exclusive anniversary model features a brown sun-brushed dial across which the long yellow chronograph hand glides – a nod to the colour of the thread historically used in leatherwork. The two elegant sub-dials also make a comeback.
The Tambour Twenty boasts the same unique and instantly recognisable drum-shaped case. The deep, flared profile of the timepiece is eyecatching, while giving it a robust and reliable feel. Around the 41.5 mm diameter case are the twelve letters that make up the name “Louis Vuitton”, just as on the 2002 version.
The Tambour Twenty, which is water-resistant to 100 metres, keeps time with a LV277 high- frequency movement based on the iconic Zenith El Primero, the world’s first automatic chronograph. This movement, with 22-karat gold rotor and 50 hours of power reserve, is accurate to one-tenth of a second. The timepiece is delivered with another iconic Louis Vuitton staple: a miniature trunk in the Monogram canvas motif.
