eometry is a branch of mathematics that deals with angles, dimensions, proportions, shapes and surfaces, often involving precise arrangements of lines and arcs. The dial of the new Schwarz Etienne Geometry presents a patchwork of concentric arcs and ridges.

The dial, divided into quadrants, is embellished with an array of finishes including fluted lines, azuré, clous de Paris and finely sandblasted sections. Like a metaphor for life itself, the dial artistically depicts arcs and ridges shifting from one path to another, producing an unexpected and exhilarating sensation. This ‘deconstructed’ dial motif made up of contrasting geometric forms was masterminded by acclaimed designer Éric Giroud.

Lancine-style hour and minute hands float above a tapestry of intricately textured motifs, applied using hand-guilloché. A small seconds display, also with a lancine-style hand, is positioned at 6 o’clock. The dial, crafted from 18K gold, is offered in a choice of silver or salmon.

Measuring 39mm in diameter, the polished stainless steel case offers a variety of contours that interact with the light, producing pockets of brilliance and shadow. An exhibition case back offers a view of the automatic ASE 200.02 Manufacture calibre. Each dial variant is complemented with a colour-coordinated strap with stainless steel folding buckle.

The ASE 200.02 calibre is equipped with a micro-rotor, providing the convenience of automatic winding. Furthermore, the design allows for unimpeded views of the beautifully finished bridges. The main plate is presented in grey brass with an exquisite sandblasted finish, while the ratchet wheel is decorated with diamond drops and snailing. The finely sandblasted bridges have a grey PVD treatment and incorporate polished bevels and tone-on-tone engraving. Assuming the mainspring is fully tensioned, the Geometry will run autonomously for 86 hours.

Since it was founded in 1902, Schwarz Etienne has repeatedly created highly original timepieces infused with technical excellence. The Geometry is no exception.
