oes anyone still remember the very first TVs? Their diminutive screens were designed with a shape that has long since disappeared – an almost square rectangle with rounded corners. In 1973, 1980 and 2000, Mido drew inspiration from the TV shape for the design of some of its models. Fifty years after its first appearance, the cult classic TV-shaped case has returned to the brand’s catalogue with the new Mido Multifort TV Big Date.
True to its DNA, Mido once again plays with shapes down to the smallest details: a flat, square satin-finished bezel encloses the hypnotic dial and its famous Big Date. This one appears in prime position at 12 o’clock on the two-level dial, which features a horizontal brushed finish from 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock that subtly reflects the light, lending the watch a dynamic quality.
- Four models are featured in the launch of this collection, two steel versions – one with a green gradient dial and another with a black gradient dial, and two versions with rubber straps – one in navy blue and the other in Mido’s highly distinctive orange.
The bracelet has polished centre links imparting an elegant roundness to the watch. White Super-LumiNova® enhances the visibility of the most important round indexes, which emit a blue-green luminescence in the dark.
Behind its TV screen, the ever-reliable Calibre 80 marks the time with precision, for up to 80 hours. Mido combines it with a balance spring made from Nivachron™, a state-of-the-art material that offers superior resistance to magnetic fields and shocks for outstanding precision. The Multifort TV Big Date is reliable down to the smallest detail, and can withstand pressure of up to 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft).
