irst launched in 2017, Omega’s Speedmaster 38 mm collection offered its fans a luxurious take on the chronograph’s unmistakable look. The Speedmaster 38 mm “Cappuccino” in 18K SednaTM Gold was especially popular, with horizontal brown oval subdials and vertical oval date window at 6 o’clock – a design inspired by the oval subdials featured on De Ville timepieces of the past.
This year, Omega has expanded the collection to include eight new models: two in 18K SednaTM Gold, two in 18K MoonshineTM Gold and four in classic stainless steel with a choice of two striking dial colours. In addition to a diamond-paved bezel, measured at approximately 1.5 carats, each watch has three diamond-ringed subdials.
- Omega’s latest 18K Moonshine Gold models both feature a green PVD dial with silvery horizontal oval subdials and a vertical oval date window at 6 o’clock. The hour/minute hands, in diamond-polished 18K Moonshine Gold, are filled with white Super-LumiNova which emits a green glow. Fans can choose between a polished and brushed 18K Moonshine Gold bracelet with Omega’s patented comfort release adjust system, or a green leather strap with 18K Moonshine Gold foldover clasp buckle.
Every sparkling watch has a screw-down caseback stamped with a Seahorse medallion – a nod to the distinguished history of the Speedmaster. Power is provided by an official certified chronometer movement: the Omega Co-Axial Calibre 3330, a self-winding chronograph with column-wheel mechanism, co-axial escapement and free-sprung-balance equipped with an Si14 silicon balance spring.
For the dials, Omega’s designers took their cues from the look of legacy models such as the green dial of the 42 mm Moonwatch in MoonshineTM Gold and the brown dial of the De Ville Chocolate, which was a great success a few years ago.
