Behrens The Dark Knight: a horological tribute to batman

In collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery and Memorigin, the creative brand from Shenzhen has created a highly original Batman-themed free-sprung tourbillon watch, as the superhero celebrates his 85th anniversary.

“T

he Dark Knight” watch is a special limited edition created by Behrens, Warner Bros. Discovery and Memorigin to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the birth of Batman. The watch is powered by Behrens’ new calibre BM05, a mechanical manually wound movement that incorporates a wealth of Batman elements. The free-sprung tourbillon at 6 o’clock on the dial is openworked with the Batman logo, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and uniqueness of the tourbillon structure.

The watch in grade 5 titanium, is produced in a limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide, with a dial diameter of 38mm and a thickness of 8.9mm. It is supplied with two lightweight and comfortable fluorine rubber straps, one black and one yellow.

Below the tourbillon is the date display, with the number “27” in the date aperture in special colours to commemorate the debut appearance of Batman in “Detective Comics” Issue #27. The day/night display at 9 o’clock shows the initials “BW” for Bruce Wayne and the Batman logo, a design that is both practical and personalised; The power reserve display at 2 o’clock provides an easy way to check the watch’s energy supply, while the clasp features the Batman logo and the case is inspired by the searchlights in the Batman films.

The watch is fully skeletonised, with most of the movement components concentrated in the upper part of the watch, and a fully transparent caseback, allowing a complete view of mechanical workings inside. The watch is equipped with a number of new Behrens patented technologies. Among them, the free-sprung tourbillon significantly improves the overall performance of the tourbillon mechanism; the new bi-directional date adjustment system makes it easier to adjust the date without the usual limitations of traditional time adjustment mechanisms and the strap features an upgraded quick release mechanism, which makes the internal pushers slide more smoothly and easily when removing the watch.
