It was after the impact of World War I that men started to wear wristwatches rather than pocket watches for practical reasons. Watchmakers began by taking pocket watches and welding arches on each side of the case in order to slip a strap through the back, so as to create a watch that could be worn on the wrist. The Tissot Heritage 1936 is exactly that.
