When Glamour and craftsmanship are the perfect combination….

Background information on Harry Winston
Nicknamed the “King of diamonds”, Harry Winston single-handedly embodies the passion for the exceptional and the pursuit of aesthetic elegance, a quest revealed for over a century in each of its creations. For some of the world’s leading figures, including film stars and royalty, the company’s jewellery craftsmen have calibrated, cut, polished and set some of the most beautiful gems in history, including the Jonker, the Vargas, the Star of Sierra Leone or the Taylor-Burton. It is said that one day, realising that a client could not make a decision, Harry Winston persuaded him simply by describing what he felt for these jewels. He was not just thoroughly acquainted with diamonds; he loved them.

Ronald Winston inherited his love of the profession and his mastery of the art of jewellery-making from his illustrious father. An engineer by training and a passionately creative individual, he decided in 1989 to embark the company upon a new adventure by founding Harry Winston Rare Timepieces in Geneva, Switzerland. Loyal to the motto “Nothing but the exceptional” the new watch company quickly attracted the cooperation of the finest Swiss craftsmen and master-watchmakers.

Two niches have been developed: delicately hand-set women’s jewellery watches, testifying to the more than century-old know-how cultivated at Harry Winston; and men’s models featuring technical complications, including a certain number of world firsts in keeping with the finest Swiss high-end traditions.

These two distinct lines have given rise to the “Rare Movements, Rare Diamonds” concept. This is indeed a full-fledged philosophy, since these two values enshrine the qualities and the constant pursuit of perfection inherent to the firm.

Less than 15 years after its founding, Harry Winston Rare Timepieces produces over 2,800 watches per year , issued in small exclusive series and sold in around 120 handpicked points of sale around the world.

The “Rare Moment” events
In order to further share its philosophy “Rare Movements, Rare Diamonds”, Harry Winston Rare Timepieces created the “Rare Moment” event concept.
The House of Harry Winston offers its guests the exclusive opportunity to assist to stone-setting, gemmology and watchmaking workshops, all hosted by Harry Winston Rare Timepieces craftsmen. These workshops are held for the occasion in the most beautiful venues of the world. In the evening, the guests are invited to a very glamorous gala dinner in the presence of prestigious stars invited by the House.

The Rare Moment is a unique blend of glamour and craftsmanship. But above all, more than a concept, the Rare Moment is an opportunity to enter the Harry Winston’s world in a very privileged way. It is a moment of sharing, a rare moment…
