IBERJOYA the International Jewellery, Silverware, Watch and Related Industries Exhibition, which took place at FERIA DE MADRID between 13th and 17th January welcomed a total of 23,371 trade visitors. This figure, which represents an increase of over 11% with respect to the figure registered in January 2004, confirms the fair's considerable appeal and role as one of the most outstanding international points of reference within the industry.
The growth of this fair was fully reflected at this edition, featuring the direct participation of some 570 exhibiting companies and a net exhibition area of 16,662 square metres, distributed in Halls 8 and 10, displaying an innovative exhibition especially represented by top quality offers of exclusive design according to the latest fashion lines and trends of the moment. Together with the participation of Spanish manufacturers and importers, IBERJOYA presented the offer of 139 international companies from Germany, Andorra, Belgium, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Turkey.
The international stature of the fair was also reflected in the presence of foreign purchasers, which represented 7% of the total number of visitors to IBERJOYA, and accounts for a 6.9% increase with respect to the past edition. On this occasion the most significant presence was from Portugal, followed by Italy and France. Likewise, a significant number of trade visitors from Mexico, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and Turkey were present at the fair.
In this manner, IBERJOYA highlights its appeal for international demand and supply and its capability as an essential framework for the display of novelties to the Spanish market. The fair also provides a vehicle for the prospecting and distribution in the sector as well as in the growing number of purchasers from abroad that receive and provide a strong support for the boosting of exports.
From this perspective IFEMA continues to strengthen its promotional campaigns featuring direct measures in the main markets of interest for its exhibiting companies and throughout the specific work that its delegations abroad perform. All this is backed by the International Guest Programme, organized by the organizers of IBERJOYA and, on this occasion, a second Buyers Programme, arranged in collaboration with the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Madrid. Taking advantage of the synergy that exists between these two institutions, the latter programme invited a group of professionals from the American continent to visit the fair.
. Coinciding Activities
As is customary, IBERJOYA was the setting for a series of exhibitions and presentations aimed at providing exhibitors and visitors with an information forum that besides providing a promotional and business side, also encourages the spreading of a complete group of concepts linked to the sector.
Likewise, design played a significant role at the VANGUARDIA Section that once again emphasized creativity and originality, to highlight upcoming designs in current jewellery collections. VANGUARDIA brought together the proposals of a wide group of prestigious designers such as the artists from the Design Action Group, EVAGROUP.
Gems also held a special place at the exhibition. A privileged position that the Spanish Gemological Institute has been staging for many years enticing visitors to admire a number of magnificent unrefined specimens alongside exquisitely-cut gems in an endless series of shapes.
. Trends Presentation
The latest lines and fashion ideas for the forthcoming season were also highlighted at the IBERJOYA Trends Presentation; an activity included in the promotion programme Madrid Lives Fashion, with the aim of encouraging one of the most attractive and dynamic sides of the industry. The Trends Presentation, took place during the traditional IBERJOYA Gala Dinner, on Friday 14th January, and was attended by more than 600 guests - exhibitors, clients and press specialized in jewellery and fashion.
The trends where displayed through a unique multimedia exhibition which presented the images of the latest in jewellery, timepieces and silverware from all the products exhibited by the exhibitors. The great creative lines within design, fashion and jewellery are developing and axed around two main themes: Baroque Exuberance and No Color Minimalism. Nostalgic styles find their space in a mythical Far East, and their time in another mythical period, the 60s and the New Pop. The multicultural, energetic mark took shape in the Mirada Global (Global Vision).
Black and white were also present in watches, especially in spheres and straps, as well as in cases, imaginative or traditional, feature stunning shapes. For its part, silverware placed importance on updating its creations, both in classical lines as in the more contemporary designs of great formal purity and simplicity in its motifs.
As a final point, the related industries provided a selection of design and window-dressing, cases, jewellery boxes, packaging and accessories, as well as innovations in the most avant-garde machinery and software products to improve the business profitability.
Tribute to the deans of the jewellery profession
The IBERJOYA Gala Dinner, also served as a stage to pay tribute to the deans of the jewellery profession with over 50 years of continuous work in the retailer field. In this respect, IBERJOYA's Organizing Committee recognized the contribution made by Manuel Pascual Pérez, Antonio Gordillo García, Miguel Pérez Jiménez, Rosendo Nevado, Francisco Martí Aguilera and Joan Domenech. For its part, the DUPLEX Group also joined this initiative in order to pay homage to two important figures in the jewellery industry whose careers also span a period of over 50 years, both of whom are well known on the international scene: Manuel Pascual and Francesc Martí.
At the same time as IBERJOYA, INTERGIFT, the International Gift Fair, and BISUTEX, the Fashion Jewellery and Accessories Trade Fair were held, three shows that are leaders in their respective sectors and that are exclusively aimed at professionals, which together displayed the offer made by over 94,982 professionals.
