CARTIER

April 2005

The new asymmetric watch from Cartier’s Libre Collection has a an oblong case which has been given a tilt and you have what the brand calls an asymmetric watch. Asymmetry actually means a lack of beauty or harmony of form … something that is misproportioned … but when you look at this timepiece it has total harmony. The only truly asymmetric element is the manner in which the Roman numerals have been partially concealed.
The watchcase is in 18 carat yellow gold and is set with round diamonds and the dial is in grained silver. The watch is equipped with a quartz movement, has a hidden crown and it comes with either a wide beige or a black toile poudrée (a glossy toile) strap with a diamond-set deployant buckle.
