Maria Sharapova, the world's top-ranked women's tennis player, has launched the TAG Heuer “Formula 1 Diamond” watch she helped design.
“Working on the design of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Diamonds was one of the most exciting experiences outside the tennis court,” Sharapova said in a TAG Heuer release. “I feel this watch truly reflects my style and personality.”
Wearing her self-designed watch in pink, Sharapova met fans and signed autographs at Fortunoff in Manhattan to help promote the timepiece. The TAG Heuer Formula 1 line watch is adorned with 120 diamonds on a flower-petal fixed bezel. In keeping with other TAG Heuer watches, the Formula 1 Diamond features a stainless steel case; water resistance to 200 meters; sapphire crystal and screw-fitted caseback; a screw-in crown; and luminescent hour and minute hands. In addition to pink, the watch is also available in white and black, with matching satin straps.
“We are thrilled to include Maria in the TAG Heuer family,” Daniel Lalonde, president & CEO of TAG Heuer North America, said in the company's statement. “As the No. 1- ranked player in the world, Maria personifies our brand— prestige, performance and elegance. Our partnership is one of complete integration, in which Maria provided us with her ideas and helped in the design of her watch. We look forward to continued success in our relationship.”
The new model introduction is supported by the TAG Heuer “What Are You Made Of?” advertising campaign featuring the work of fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The Russian tennis star joins the ranks of other TAG Heuer brand ambassadors, which include film star Uma Thurman, golfer Tiger Woods, and NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon.
