Timex teams with Amazon for Web business

Watch manufacturer Timex has announced a multi-year agreement through which Amazon Services Enterprise Solution to develop and manage its branded Web site and e-commerce business.

The Timex site will utilize Amazon technology—including one-step checkout, wish lists and recommendations and more—available to Timex's online customers, while still enabling Timex to maintain its brand control.

“This partnership allows us to focus on our business of designing world-renowned watches, while Amazon Services focuses on what they do best— designing and managing an outstanding Web experience,” Gary Druckenmiller, director of Timex.com and e-business, said in a release issued Wednesday.

With manufacturing plants and company offices in more than 80 countries around the world, Timex is a privately-owned company founded in 1854 that has sold more than one billion watches worldwide.

Amazon.com subsidiary Amazon Services LLC offers the technical platform, operational capabilities and online retailing expertise of Amazon.com to other retailers. The company's Amazon Enterprise Solution currently powers the online offerings of brands including: Target Stores, the National Basketball Association, Bebe Stores and other retail sites.
