De Grisogono launched its new Be Eight collection in Geneva recently by inviting over 200 women to its boutique for lunch. The new Be Eight was presented by its creator, Fawaz Gruosi and the international top model Nadja Auermann.
Fawaz Gruosi and Nadja Auermann
The figure eight was chosen for its symbolism as a sign of accomplishment, balance and fulfilment. The Be Eight gave de Grisogono the opportunity to rewrite the ‘rules of femininity’, and there are eight of them, or course!
Rule n°1: Adopt feminine curves
Femininity comes naturally to Be Eight, certainly because Fawaz Gruosi has imagined it with womanly curves. Some see in it the smooth shoulders, generous bust, slender waist and shapely hips of a feminine silhouette. Others even take pleasure in suggesting a certain similarity with “Le Violon d'Ingres”, Man Ray's famous photograph portraying in black and white the contours of a female nude, her back turned.
Rule n°2: Never leave home without a lucky charm
Would it be stereotyped to say that women love to read their horoscope? That they invariably have some little trinket or good-luck charm tucked away? The fact remains that Be Eight will strike a chord with any woman who believes in her lucky star. Eight is to Chinese culture what seven is in the West: a symbol of harmony that echoes the eight spokes of the Buddhist wheel of life, the eight petals of the lotus blossom, the eight cardinal points, or the eight cosmic mountains.
Rule n°3: Take pleasure in small things
Sometimes the smallest things bring the greatest pleasure. Clearly, de Grisogono had this in mind when it imagined Be Eight with a moving ring under the upper half of the “8”, at 12 o'clock. A detail which accentuates Be Eight's design.
Rule n°4: Dare to be different; proclaim your originality in all circumstances
No need for divinatory powers to predict that Be Eight will seduce women who love to surround themselves with all things original. All those dynamic, inventive women who stay active on every front without ever sacrificing their femininity. First of all for its highly original form, an “8” with a moving ring under its upper half. But also because this watch is paired with a genuine Madera calfskin strap, a rare and unusual choice.
Rule n°5: Pay attention to detail
As always, Fawaz Gruosi has delighted in the details of this extra-thin watch. In addition to the form of the case, which curves from 12 to 6 o'clock, and the moving ring under the upper half, Be Eight's four hour markers, at 12 o'clock in the upper half of the “8”, and at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock in the lower half, are highlighted with white diamonds. Sweeping these markers are rhodium-plated or pink gold-plated dauphine hands. The back of the case carries the de GRISOGONO signature while the crown, which sits seamlessly at 3 o'clock, is marked with the watchmaker's coat of arms.
Rule n°6: Keep it simple
For women who prefer simple objects with few stones, Be Eight plays it low-key with an all-gold version, or others in which only the moving ring is set with precious stones. Such as this model with a pink gold case and pink gold ring, a beige dial with pink gold-plated markers set with white diamonds, pink gold-plated hands and a black Madera calfskin strap. Or this one in mat burnished pink gold whose burnished pink gold ring is set with white diamonds. Or a version in polished white gold and a ring set with white diamonds. Original, chic and feminine… in all simplicity.
Rule n°7: Opt for colour
While never turning his back on black, Fawaz Gruosi flies high the colours of creativity. For women who live life in the pink, or for those who dream of green, Be Eight lends its forms to models in two colours. A pink gold model set with pink baguette sapphires with a ring set with white diamonds. And a rhodium-plated white gold model set with baguette emeralds with a ring set with white diamonds.
Rule n°8: Never say no to beautiful stones
Because diamonds are a girl's best friend, Be Eight comes in versions whose diamonds can be white, brown or black. Among the 13 different models, beautiful women will undoubtedly appreciate this one set with white baguette diamonds, or this model in which the black diamonds of the case contrast with the white diamonds encircling the ring.
