“For a contemporary retailer, it is a must to reach customers over the Internet. I am convinced that we are the first luxury jeweler to sell diamond engagement rings online, and that we will most certainly be followed,” De Beers Diamond Jewellers Chief Executive Officer Guy Leymarie said in a statement released on Tuesday. “Debeers.com will be a discrete, safe and luxurious environment, where De Beers authenticity will be guaranteed by the unique De Beers Diamond Marque, the De Beers Diamond Passport and the Kimberley Process.”
News that the retailer was planning to launch an e-commerce site first appeared on

in late March, but now, new details are available.
The new Web site is designed to mirror the type of luxury experience afforded to those who visit the store, the retailer says. It also showcases a wide range of diamond jewelry, including the Talisman Collection (a hit with self-purchasers), as well as the Bridal Collections. Retail price points start at $500.
The retailer says it will offer the “highest level of personalized services” through De Beers Private Client Services just as it does in the store or over the phone.
Debeers.com will launch the exclusive new “Forever” diamond engagement ring collection featuring De Beers Selected Diamonds. The Forever Rings, set in platinum with center stones ranging from 0.5 carats to 1.5 carats, begin at $2,000, the retailer says.
Each De Beers purchase will be accompanied by the De Beers Diamond Passport, which guarantees that the diamonds are not only natural and free of treatments or enhancements, but also conflict-free and child-labor free, the company says. The De Beers Diamond Passport, which the retailer describes as the “ultimate seal of approval,” will also offer technical information about the diamond for valuation and insurance purposes.
