Blancpain redefines the rules governing the world of diver’s watches to offer a range of new expressions suited to the broad variety of contemporary lifestyles. Historically masculine in that it was developed to equip French Navy combat divers in their perilous underwater missions during the 1950s, the Fifty Fathoms is now also interpreted in a decidedly feminine mode.
Determined to create mechanical watches that meet the needs of modern women, Blancpain presents two ladies’ versions of the Fifty Fathoms. These new creations reflect the key signature features of the famous diving watch: the same exclusive Blancpain Calibre 1315 self-winding movement with a 5-day power reserve, the same size of the steel case; the same water resistance to 300 metres; and the same oversized hands and hour-markers ensuring optimal readability.
Clearly designed for contemporary women, the Fifty Fathoms shows up in soft, light colours: pink for one and sky blue for the other. The face of the watch remains easily identifiable, while adopting a resolutely feminine character cleverly created using subtle touches. The dial is adorned with white mother-of-pearl, and the hands, hour-markers and bezel markers are coated with a pastel-coloured luminescent material, while a sail canvas strap matching the chosen shade sets a finishing touch.
