Nautica Watches launches NVL 100, a rare 10-sided timepiece with distinct nautical inspiration. The unusual decagonal watch case design is reminiscent of the 10-sided cast iron lanterns used in lighthouses in the mid to late 1800's to guide mariners along their passage.
Signature nautical screw details are featured on the angular case, and carbon fiber details add depth to the watch dial. Strap colors are available in a wide variety of colors including yellow, orange, red, white or black.
The NVL 100 comes in two styles: a two-eye chronograph movement with date window at the 6:00 position and date only version that features an unusual two-crown design with a turning diver reflector ring. The crown at the 2:00 position turns the reflector ring while the crown at the 4:00 position adjusts the time and date. This version is available with a carbon fiber dial and large date window.
A touch of authenticity in the resin straps incorporates an overlapping flap design inspired by the pattern of prisms used in lighthouse lanterns to concentrate and project the light source far out to sea.
“Nautica's core strength is in assimilating vintage nautical designs and interpreting them in fresh new ways to capture the best of both worlds. The NVL 100 was inspired by ten-sided lanterns used in lighthouses prior to the advent of electricity. It has been reborn as a modern beacon of timeless design,” states Linda Calvert, Global Brand Director for Nautica Watches.
