Orient Watch partnered with ShopNBC to sell its watches on television. This marked the first major retail deal for the Japanese company, which entered the United States earlier this year.
The debut featured models ranging in price from $200 for a fully-automatic semi-skeleton watch, to $1300 for a 300-meter saturation diver with power reserve indicator. ShopNBC watch expert Jim Skelton and Mark Kim, Chief Marketing Officer for Puritime Orient's exclusive US distributor), hosted the event.
According to Kim, the partnership provides a unique opportunity to introduce the United States to the Orient brand. “Like ShopNBC, Orient offers a rare blend of quality and value,” says Kim. “We have already doubled our initial stocking in response to the excitement.”
The decision to work with ShopNBC also complements Orient's plans to focus on mediums that allow for educational marketing. “We want to make it easy for people to truly understand what they're buying,” says Kim. “This is a great chance to tell our story and explain what it means to have a quality watch.”
