Jaeger-LeCoultre sponsors a seminal exhibition at the Jeu de Paume, Paris

February 2010

www.worldwatchweb.com - In sponsoring artist Esther Shalev Gerz' exhibition at the influential Jeu de Paume in Paris, Jaeger-LeCoultre pursues its patronage of contemporary art and photography.

Ever since 1833, the Manufacture has sought the perfect blend of expertise in rare crafts and cutting-edge technology, of respect for legacy and heritage and true creativity and innovation. In its relations with dynamic artists and cultural institutions, Jaeger-LeCoultre has sought to celebrate the creative process and the importance of heritage as a source of inspiration for innovation, technical mastery and style.

Jaeger-LeCoultre's patronage of Esther Shalev Gerz's exhibition is its latest in a long series of associations with major artists, which has included the shows, productions and publications of Cindy Sherman, Lee Friedlander, an Edouard Steichen retrospective, Richard Avedon, and most recently Tutto Fellini at the Jeu de Paume in 2009.

In this partnership with Esther Shalev Gerz, Jaeger-LeCoultre has also taken its involvement to new levels and has participated in the creation and production of one of the artist's ten works on display: “The Inseparables”, a large-scale clock produced by the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre.
