Breitling has launched a limited series of 500 of the Navitimer Blue Sky watch in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Navitimer chronograph. The slide rule scale around the bezel harks back to the origins of the model in 1952 – a time before electronic navigational aids – and allows pilots to carry out quickly all the calculations required for navigation, such as average speed, distance covered, fuel consumption or rates of ascent and descent.

This genuine wrist instrument was chosen as the official watch of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the largest organisation of its kind in the world. As a result, many Navitimer models from the 1950s and 1960s bear the organisation’s logo.
The limited-edition Navitimer Blue Sky has a steel case with a blue dial and matching blue crocodile leather strap, or with the Navitimer steel bracelet or the original perforated Air Racer bracelet. It is powered by the Breitling Calibre 01 self-winding chronograph movement, which can be admired through a transparent sapphire crystal case-back. The limited series number is engraved on the case middle at 9 o’clock.
