We first saw this piece at BaselWorld this year, where it was fresh of the production line. As a result, no press photos were available at the time. You can probably understand why we waited before publishing this. Picard Cadet Genève’s new fine jewellery watch, the Metamorphose, combines the technical expertise and aesthetics that are shared by the brand and its new owners and that are the epitome of fine jewellery craftsmanship.

The piece is set with a staggering total of 1,113 diamonds for a total of approximately 5.38 carats. But aside from this outer beauty, the piece also has an inner beauty in the form of its case. Consisting of 163 parts, the case can transform, at the touch of four pushbuttons in front of the lugs, into four different faces, displaying varying combinations of black or white diamonds. Furthermore, at 3 and 9 o’clock the side of the case can be rotated to add further to the different combinations, with more precious gemstones or a plain metal surface.
For once it is the mechanical dance of the case and its gemstones, rather than the beating of the movement, that captures the attention.
