The Geneva-based brand launches the “Big Date” range of its legendary Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph collection.
Alpina is the type of watch brand that does things the traditional way: independent, family-owned, and of course, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1883, Alpina is a true pioneer of watchmaking. For one, it invented the concept of the sport watch as we know it today, with the introduction of the legendary Alpina 4 in 1938.
- 1969 Alpina Seastrong 10 diver
That pedigree has also translated to its diver watches. In fact, Alpina made diving watch history in 1960’s when its Seastrong 10 was proven to reach depths of 200m under water. Based on that rich diving heritage, Alpina has now revealed its new Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph Big Date wristwatch.
Everything about this new release suggests a professional diving watch. Let’s start with the fact that the “300” in the model’s name indicates that the watch will tell you the time up to 300m below the surface. For reference, those are depths to which no human can ever reach naturally.
- Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph Big Date, in orange
The “Big Date” part of the name implies that the watch is designed for you to see what you need to see, when you need to see it. This means maximum readability in low visibility conditions. The hands, dial indexes, and the 60 minutes markers on the bezel are luminous, which perfectly contrast against the matte black dial.
And the watch has other features which help to keep you safe when below the surface. Its aluminium turning bezel turns in just one direction: anti-clockwise. This is an important “fail-safe” feature that prevents the number of elapsed minutes from being accidentally decreased.
From an aesthetic point of view, the watch delivers everything we’d expect from an Alpina diver watch, making it perfectly functional for every day wear. This includes a 44 mm stainless cushion shaped steel case, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, water-resistant genuine leather strap, and of course, the beautiful engraving of the Alpina diving symbol on the case-back.
- Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph Big Date, in bordeaux
The Seastrong Diver 300 Chronograph collection features both automatic and quartz movements in men’s and women’s editions. And the “Big Date” range of the collection comes in 4 different models, each with a different bezel colour: bordeaux, grey, navy blue and orange. (VJ)
