Switzerland is known for fine watchmaking and fine chocolate. It was only a matter of time before someone combined the two.
Baume & Mercier is a brand that likes to associate itself with life’s special moments, usually by releasing special timepieces to mark the occasions. Their Classima collection and its links to graduation comes to mind first.
Now, one of the oldest Swiss brands is associated with the moments we share with our loved ones when we eat. Linking with the world of gastronomy they have partnered with “les Grandes Tables de Suisse”.
To mark the event, Alexandre Peraldi, the brand’s Design Director, and Pierrot Ayer, President of “Les Grandes Tables de Suisse”, joined forces in the kitchen at restaurant “Le Pérolles” in Fribourg. And they cooked up something very special for the occasion: an edible timepiece dessert.
Holder of 18 “Gault & Millau” points and well-known for his reinterpretations of famous Swiss dishes, this reinterpretation is definitely one for the books. Unfortunately the only time this watch tells is dinner time!
To mark the occasion, the chef received a Clifton 10278 Calendar watch, which is meant to symbolize the tradition and precision that Swiss watchmaking has in common with gastronomy.
