Now officially the “Winner in Luxury”, the watchmaking company has received the German Brand Award for the second time.
Nomos has been around for less than three decades, but the watchmaker is firmly established in global watchmaking. For one, it is Germany’s leading mechanical watchmaker. But this is certainly not a volume producer. Rather, the manufacture known for its thoughtfully designed and quality timepieces, which retail in the 1,000-5,000 USD range.
The brand also has great global distribution, with presence in over 50 countries, where watches like the famous Tangente model have long regarded as classics. This, despite the company only having 27 years in operation.
But perhaps what’s most impressive is the brand’s steep, upward trajectory of late. In the last three years, for example, the company re-doubled its growth, and now employs around 300 people.
All of this is to say that Nomos is going from strength to strength, and the major players in the industry are noticing. This past July, the Glashütte-based company won in the “Luxury” category at the German Brand Awards 2017, presented in Berlin.
Founded by the renowned German Design Council, the prize honors companies for outstanding branding and a successful brand strategy. No surprises that the brand won then, especially when considering that Nomos does so well to back up its sleek branding with an even more solid product proposition.
The stock of German watchmakers has certainly been going up in recent years, and as this recent award shows, Nomos is well placed among the leaders of the pack.
This is one award among many for the German brand already, and that’s in part because it always seems to strike the perfect balance between tradition, high-tech, and avant-garde elements, as far as I’m concerned. This makes Nomos not just distinctive within Germany, but also globally.
