SENSATIONAL AUCTION RESULTS BY ANTIQUORUM

The wristwatch Lot* 608 set the new ALL TIME WORLD RECORD PRICE for ANY WRISTWATCH when it sold today for SFR. 6'603'500. It was Antiquorum's best watch auction total ever & the 2nd best watch auction total internationally to date! Antiquorum's April 13-14 auction realized the outstanding sold total of SFr. 38'253'851 (US$ 23,325,518), more than double the pre-sale total estimate of 16 million. The sale's percentages are: 333% sold in value and 83% sold by lot. Not only was the sale-room full, the Internet audience was also extremely active on Antiquorum Online at www.antiquorum.com.
“To say we are delighted is an understatement!” said Osvaldo Patrizzi, Antiquorum's Chairman, who added: “These are magnificent results and I don't think I could ever have imagined back in 1979, when I started wristwatch sales at Antiquorum, that I would one day have the honor and pleasure of auctioning a wristwatch at 6.6 million Swiss Francs!!!”
The horological tools, workbenches, books and documents, Lots 131-222, which fetched astounding prices, well above their estimates, totaled SFr. 2'184'230 (US$ 1,331,847) and practically all were purchased by the same Middle Eastern collector. Among these is Lot* 222 that sold for SFr. 245'500 (US$ 149,695) setting a WORLD RECORD for ANY HOROLOGICAL letter or DOCUMENT.
