Basel Show presents Concept 2002
The World Watch and Jewellery Show held in Basel, Switzerland, introduces a new Concept as of the year 2002. The current situation is that the demand for surface area exceeds capacity. The need for growth in the areas of “Watches and Jewellery” is due to:
Substantial market growth
Expansion of existing brands
Intensified brand diversifications in the watch and jewellery industry
Increased professionalism of marketing inthe jewellery sector
Intensified diversification of watch brands into the jewellery market
Strong concentration process (competition between the luxury groups)
The Basel Fair therefore announces that its new strategy is to concentrate solely on watches and jewelry, while parent branches such as components, decoration, cases, will be shown in a complementary Show entitled Partners held in Zurich during four days, for the first time in 2002.
Currently the Basel Fair offers 87.000m2 to its 2400 exhibitors but the need is rather for 110.000m2.
