In 1948, Eterna unveiled a groundbreaking invention in the technology of automatic movements, with a ball-bearing mounted rotor. By facilitating the rotation of the oscillating weight or rotor around its axis, this revolutionary innovation reduced wear on crucial parts, and in doing so increased the lifespan of the movement. The year 1948 will remain forever engraved in the history of the mechanical watch; Eterna even adopted these five ball bearings as its logo. The company now returns to this iconic timepiece in the new 1948 watch, which is of course equipped with the same ball-bearing system as the original, and reprises the famous curved lugs.
