One of Patek Philippe’s Basle entries this year is a complex multifunction version of its famed “Calatrava” design, fitted here with a leather strap. Its seifwinding movement’s perpetual calendar shows the date by means of a retrograde-type centre hand, the months and years, leap years included, along with the phases of the moon at 6 o’clock. It also features a centre seconds hand. Case in 18K yellow gold, fitted with a screwed-in, clear sapphire back, water-resistant to a depth of 25 m. A “silvered opaline” dial with Roman applique numerals in gold and black oxidized gold hands underline the design’s powerfully symbolic character. (PATEK PHILIPPE “Calatrava”)
