Svend Andersen takes us back to the days of school benches, sloping desks and leather satchels. The hours of the day and night are arranged over an inclined plane and are indicated by the Goldpfeil arrow as it points to each in turn. Tapering, clear and distinct, the Arabic numerals take centre-stage, sloping gently upwards to meet the gaze. An aperture at midnight displays the date and a minute-track discreetly transferred under the sapphire crystal enhances readability.
The Goldpfeil atmosphere is even more clearly apparent in the solid gold and leather of the watch exterior, and particularly in the bezel and identity stud fixed with tiny screws evoking the locks used on briefcases or document holders.
The watch is driven by a self-winding movement visible through the caseback and developed by Svend Andersen on the basis of a 24-hour ETA calibre. The artisan “signs” it with his exclusive gold and platinum oscillating weight.
