he James Brand and Timex announce their latest collaboration with the Timex × James Brand Titanium GMT watch. Envisioned by renowned Italian watchmaker and Timex Chief Creative Director, Giorgio Galli and designed by the team at The James Brand, the all-new co-branded GMT watch combines the analogue soul of the classic field watch with the formal, sophisticated aesthetic of an heirloom timepiece.
True to The James Brand’s unique design aesthetic, the GMT is crafted into a sleek 41mm case rendered in hard-wearing titanium for durability while remaining lightweight and comfortable. Reinforcing the case’s durability is a screw-down crown that effectively keeps dirt, dust, and moisture out. Flip the watch over to see it’s fortified with a screw-down caseback engraved with the edition number, as well as a TJB branded sapphire crystal exhibition window to reveal the intricate 24-jewel automatic movement.
Powering the watch is a 9075 Miyota premium automatic “true” GMT movement, favoured by world travellers and frequent flyers for its ability to track a second time zone. The prominent GMT hand with Super-LumiNova in-fill for enhanced readability can be set independently from the main hour hand, making it easy to manage the time as you pursue new horizons. Meanwhile, the dial –complete with applied indices and a date window at three o’clock – is housed underneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating for ultimate clarity.
“With the unpredictable nature of global travel in mind, we sought to design a timepiece that would prepare the wearer for whatever may come,” says Ryan Coulter, Founder and Chief Creative Officer at The James Brand. “The Timex x James Brand GMT is a tough, dependable and beautiful watch, but it’s more than just a timekeeping tool, it’s a statement of intention and remaining fully present in the moment.”
Offering versatility for the jetsetter, the GMT is equipped with quick-release spring bars for easy strap changes while on the move and is offered with two water & moisture-resistant attachment options: an elegant titanium bracelet with butterfly closure and a sportier perforated resin strap with titanium buckle. Should travel find you off-shore, the GMT watch is also built to handle water pressures of up to 20 atmospheres with 200m of water resistance.
“In balancing form and function, crafting a watch that seamlessly marries everyday carry practicality with the premium materials watch enthusiasts look for was nothing short of a horological exploration,” says Giorgio Galli, Chief Creative Director at Timex Group. "The result, a finely sculpted titanium GMT timepiece that not only offers elegance but also stands against the rigours of any adventure life throws its way,” he continued.
The limited-edition Timex × The James Brand GMT watch is available at www.thejamesbrand.eu and www.timex.co.uk for £599, and as part of a 3-piece giftable box set along with the new Chapter 2 titanium knife and Burwell titanium pen offered exclusively at www.thejamesbrand.eu for £736 while supplies last.
