Alexander Shorokhoff introduces new version of Full Calendar Merkur

The new version of the full calendar ‘Merkur 2’ impresses not only with its display of the current time but also with a comprehensive date function that includes the date, day of the week, month, and a moon phase at 6 o’clock, all presented in an attractive new colour scheme.

A

lexander Shorokhoff already impressed with his first version of the full calendar named “Merkur”, a special watch that not only displays the current time but also the date, day of the week, and month.

In contrast to a simple date display that only shows the current date, a full calendar offers a more comprehensive date function.

Now the second colour variant comes into play and is no less impressive than the first variant, but some details have changed in colour. For example, the dial boasts a silver appearance, adorned with gold accents and luminous hour markers. The name “Merkur” was inspired by our eponymous planet in the solar system. With its crater-covered surface reminiscent of the moon, it harmoniously complements the design of the new model.

The day is indicated by the central date hand with a red tip on the gold date scale, while the day of the week and month appear at the 12 o’clock position.

In addition, the new Full Calendar Merkur offers another function, which displays the current moon phase at 6 o’clock. It shows how the moon looks in the sky and in which phase it is. This is designed as a representation of the moon as a small disk that moves slowly over the course of a month to show the various phases such as full moon, half moon, new moon, and waning moon. During a full moon, the orange “ball” appears exactly in the centre of the recess, opposite the marking for 29.5 days, which is the time the moon takes to orbit the earth once and go through all its phases. The moon phase display is an aesthetic and traditional feature in many wristwatches and is often integrated into watches for lovers of astronomical details or watch collectors. The planet Mercury is located in close proximity to the sun and is therefore permanently exposed to solar radiation and solar winds. For this reason, the planet has a yellow-orange shimmer, which perfectly matches the orange glowing moon phase as inspiration.

The colour selection for the leather strap was also made extremely carefully. A genuine brown crocodile leather strap in brown with an engraved solid stainless steel pin buckle, perfectly complements the cool dial with warm gold tones and lively orange, creating a balanced and appealing colour palette.

Inside, the Full Calendar Merkur houses the automatic caliber DD9000 from Dubois Depraz, whose hand-engraved and finished rotor embodies the essence of craftsmanship mastery. With its blued screws and the precision of 25 jewels adorning the movement, it is a true expression of precision and elegance. With a limited edition of only 31 pieces, the new model is a true rarity.
