trikingly intense in deep black and bright orange, this version of the Multifort TV Big Date reaffirms the unique DNA and powerful character of this successful collection. Whilst still retaining its modern and dynamic design, for the first time, this robust, ultra-precise and elegant model fully sports the classic combination of Mido signature colours.
Who remembers the old-school televisions, almost perfectly square with rounded corners? This original geometry has inspired Mido since the 1970s. In 2023, the Swiss brand reinterpreted this case shape with the Multifort TV Big Date. Here, Mido pays tribute to its distinctive orange and black palette, an iconic colour duo that creates eye-catching contrasts.
The Multifort TV Big Date features many references to the Multifort design codes: sportiness and robustness. On the dial, light dances endlessly across the reliefs created by a horizontal brushing. It is shaded from grey to black to further enhance the display indications, which all stand out in orange. At 12 o’clock, the iconic Mido “Big Date” seems to pulse thanks to this signature orange colour. It is topped with a finely sand-blasted marker dot on the bezel.
The Super-LumiNova is orange by day and glows blue at night, to ensure perfect readability of the “negative relief” indexes and hour and minute hands. The completely black second hand is more discreet. The sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective treatment on both sides to ensure there is no annoying glare, making it easier to read the indications.
The stainless steel bracelet and case of the Multifort TV Big Date are entirely coated with a black PVD treatment. Alternating satin-finished and polished surfaces – notably on the centre links – create brilliance and fascinating variations of textures. On the sides, a crown guard offers additional resistance to shocks, to protect the crown mechanism, which is a particularly sensitive component.
A transparent sapphire case back allows the ingenious mechanism powering the Multifort TV Big Date to be admired. Backed by a power reserve of up to 80 hours, the Caliber 80 offers formidable accuracy. Its oscillating weight is decorated with Geneva Stripes, an icon of Swiss watchmaking tradition. Equipped with a Nivachron™ balance spring, this automatic movement offers effective resistance to magnetism, for enhanced reliability even when exposed to the many magnetic fields surrounding us every day.
Stainless steel, orange Super-LumiNova, and an impressive Swiss mechanical movement: the Multifort TV Big Date perfectly embodies the values of Mido, known for its ability to design models to the highest watchmaking standards, thereby making high-end quality accessible to all, notably through the excellence of its materials and its use of state-of-the-art technology.
