ith one look at the new Intra-Matic it’s clear where this watch draws its roots from and what it’s built for: embracing the freedom of the open road. The Intra-Matic takes inspiration from the Chrono-matic, Hamilton’s first automatic chronograph. Introduced in 1969 it has become an icon. The distinctive ‘panda’ design with dual black sub dials set against a white face and perforated leather strap perfectly captured the aesthetics and ethos of 1960s Americana driving culture.

Now, the all-new Intra-Matic takes that same design and performance pedigree into the modern era. With three variations—each featuring a stealth black 40mm case—the design language marks a bold new territory for the Intra-Matic family.

A muted black with contrasting white indexes and hands is the minimalist, sleek option. Meanwhile striking, electric yellow and orange options bring vibrancy and a pop of color in the chronograph hand, tachymeter and perforations in the strap. Inspired by design elements in the latest supercars, the Intra-Matic harnesses the power and excitement of auto racing through Hamilton’s innovative craftsmanship and pioneering precision.

The physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating on the case and strap buckles is where style meets performance. Composed of many layers of coatings just 1/1000000th of a millimeter thick, the protective feature is highly anticorrosive.

The Intra-Matic features two sub dials along with a chronograph hand, a date indicator and a tachymeter. The latest works in connection with the chronograph hand to measure the average speed between two points based on elapsed time. When stopped, the chronograph hand indicates the average speed on the tachymeter. One push on the bottom button and the chronograph hand returns to 12 o’clock, ready for another measurement.

With its 28-jewel movement and 60-hour power reserve, the Intra-Matic Auto Chrono packs a punch under the hood worthy of its supercar, road-ready appeal.
